A Closer Look to Artificial Learning Environments

چکیده
The so-called Intelligent Tutoring Systems evolved in the past five years to Intelligent Learning Environments. This shift was supported by the stronger role of software agents and the possible ways they can be used to promote human learning. The aim of this paper is to explore further on one possible style of formalization taking now a point of view from DAI in stead of AI and Education: a classroom is a small society of agents that can be simulated according to some specific goal defined by the user (say, the teacher). It will be based on a modification of the idea of deductive structures (DS), first proposed by Konolige. These DS will be accompanied by heuristic principles and criteria that define different types of societies and agents. The technical apparatus can be adopted in distinct educational scenarios from history to mathematics, and we will show, with an example, recent work in high school linear algebra.

I'm No Longer a Child: A Closer Look at the Interaction Between Iranian EFL University Students' Identities and Their Academic Performance
Although university EFL students represent a wide array of social and cultural identities, their multiple and diverse identities are not usually considered in foreign language classrooms. This qualitative case study attempted to examine identity conflicts experienced by Iranian EFL learners at the university context. To this end, two Shiraz University students' identities were investigated. Sem...
متن کاملInvestigating the Role of Electronic Education Infrastructures in Enhancement of Mobile Learning and Education at Islamic Azad University Electronic Branch
The production, distribution, and consumption of information are the most important development indices of any nation. Plenty of opportunities were created by e-learning which have overall paved the grounds for and enriched the presentation of learning materials through advanced audiovisual educational facilities. Such learning environments are by and large flexible and provide more appropriate...
متن کاملGeneralization over Environments in Reinforcement Learning
We give a method to optimize single-agent behavior for several environments and reinforcement functions by learning in several environments simultaneously in [5]. Now we address the problem of learning in one and applying the policy obtained to other environments. We discuss the influence of the environment on the ability to generalize over other environments. How do good learning environments ...

The present study, wants to highlight and review the most prevalent disease amongst travelers. In the current review, an updated review regarding epidemiology, involved pathogens, and a brief review of current evidence-based guidelines for prevention and treatment of this disease are provided. A distinguishing feature of the current review is the discussion of the impacts of irritable bowel syn...
متن کاملLearning Crowd Behaviour with Neuroevolution Master ’ s thesis Pascal
Many different techniques are used to mimic human behaviour in order to create realistic crowd simulations. Agent-based approaches, while having the most potential for realism, traditionally required carefully hand-crafted rules. In recent years the focus has shifted from hand-crafting decision rules to learning them through methods such as reinforcement learning. In this work a closer look is ...
